(This review contains spoilers for the book “King of Greed”)
Ana Huang is an author that has released many new books in the past five years. Since 2020, Huang has released 15 books. Many of those books are interconnected standalones — books that can be read by themselves or with the rest of the series. These include books from series such as her “Twisted” and “King of Sin” series.
All of Ana Huang’s books are worth reading, but her strongest work is the “King of Sin” series.
“King of Wrath”
The book that chronologically happens first in the “King of Sin” interconnected standalone books is “King of Wrath,” which follows the love story of a jewelry heiress and CEO.
If someone has no prior experience with Huang’s work, “King of Wrath” is a great introduction to her writing and the world she has built.
This book is one of my favorites from the “King of Sin” series. “King of Wrath” creates a character dynamic between the two main characters I simply couldn’t get enough of.
Additionally, having an arranged marriage trope is simply the icing on the cake. It created beautiful tension and perfect moments between the characters throughout the book.
The overall ending of the book gave closure to the main character’s story while also making room for the next book in “King of Sin” series.
“King of Pride”
The next book in order is “King of Pride,” which follows a young CEO and an aspiring author.
I really enjoyed this book because, unlike in Huang’s other books, the male main character doesn’t do anything wrong and is essentially unproblematic. For example, in her book “Twisted Lies” the male main character essentially told the female main character that he never loved her and was only using her because he was trying to “protect” her. This makes this dynamic feel like a breath of fresh air from Huang.
I really liked that, despite the aspiring author not being from a reputable family, the CEO didn’t care. He loved her for who she was, not for what she could provide him. It was truly beautiful.
“King of Greed”
“King of Greed” follows “King of Pride” in order. This book wasn’t bad, but it was my least favorite of the “King of Sin” series.
The book starts out with the lead couple being married before they get a divorce a little bit into the book. By the end, they remarry.
Personally, if I was the female main character I would not have gotten back with the male love interest, despite all his groveling. Afterall, he chose his job over her time and time again. That isn’t something that can easily be forgiven.
Parts of the book feel kind of forced because the female main character still feels like she is hurt by the main male character’s actions.
Other than that, I found the book very enjoyable.
“King of Sloth”
“King of Sloth” is the newest book in the series. It is my favorite book in the series so far. The book follows a reckless company heir and the woman hired to oversee his PR image.
I loved the dynamic of how he fell in love first and fell harder. From the beginning of the book, his affection for her was clear. Plus, as the story progresses, it’s clear that he cares for her deeply.
The couple is a grumpy and sunshine trope, except she is the grumpy one., It was done very well. I fell more in love with this book and the main characters with every page.
I would recommend this book to anyone, even if they haven’t read any other book by Huang.
I’m eagerly looking forward to the next book in this series: “King of Envy.”
