United Student Government (USG) vice president Davion Heron has resigned, according to a news release issued late Friday.

Heron served four years with the governing body as a senator and recording secretary and was elected as vice president with 60 percent of the 231 votes cast at the end of the 2016-2017 school year.

“Though we will miss Vice President Heron, we understand and support his decision to step down and are grateful for his many accomplishments over the past four years,” President Bobby Bertha said in the release.

USG said it will continue business as usual, and as per its constitution will name a nominee to fill Heron’s position within a week of his official resignation.

Heron declined to comment.
