This week’s SGA meeting opened with deliberation on what should be done about the vacant rules committee parliamentarian position.
Senators debated on if the position was still necessary, with President Marc Palombo noting that the vice president could assume most of the roles of parliamentarian while still maintaining nine office hours.
Senator Arden Adams said she was interested in pursuing the role.
“I think having a leadership position like this would push me and challenge me in ways that I’m actively seeking,” Adams said.
The position remains vacant as of publishing.
Vice President Trevor FitzSimmons addressed the broken door at the entrance to Boulevard Apartments, saying he wanted to ensure something was done to mitigate security concerns.
Chief of Staff Frankie Bracey proposed working on a project to implement family and friends meal swipes in the dining hall.
Senator Allicia Broyard, Chair of the Diversive, Equity and Inclusion committee announced the inclusion of several clubs, including Shalom and BSU.
Treasurer MC Carder proposed Spring 1 Allocations, a set of budget requests from 16 campus clubs.
The final total was $7,137.56, about $3,000 under budget. The motion passed 11-0 with one abstention.
The constitution of the Point Park Ballroom Dancesport Club was approved unanimously (12-0) on the grounds that the club would adjust overly specific details.
Those details could inhibit the club from properly functioning without breaking the constitution.
The next SGA meeting will be held February 5 in LH 200 at 3:15. Anyone is welcome to attend.
