Three club representatives, selected by Chief of Staff Frankie Bracey, were unanimously appointed to SGA’s election board in a meeting on Monday, March 11.
August Stephens of WPPJ, Elliott Geary of CAB and Kayla Brown of BSU were all chosen to sit on the election board to ensure the election process is fair and democratic.
The board is composed of several high-ranking members of prevalent student clubs to ensure there is no bias in the counting of votes, according to Bracey.
Three people are running for President of SGA.
Kyle MacLaughlin, Katherine Greissinger and Terefalich Girma are all gunning for the position of President.
Both MacLaughlin and Greissinger have previously served in SGA, but with the recent resolution to the Constitution, Girma can run for the position with no prior experience.
Dillon Peterson and Christian Rangel are running for Vice President.
The Globe will publish profiles of each candidate closer to the election.
In one of his few remaining addresses to the legislative body, current President of SGA Marc Palombo said, “We’ve done a lot this semester, I want you guys to feel accomplished.”
“Keep your heads high,” Palombo said, “as we keep moving forward there will be bigger SGAs and smaller SGAs, and we’ll continue to work to improve students’ lives on campus.”
An appeal on last week’s Spring 2 Funding allotment by GSSA was approved unanimously.
After recalibrating supplies and prizes for an upcoming event, GSSA requested $30.96.
Treasurer MC Carder said, “This is our first appeal of the whole year.”
“We had to make a lot of cuts, so the fact that we’re not getting appeals is good,” Carder said.
The Constitution of FrancoAmis, or the Point Park French Club, was approved unanimously.
FrancoAmis (meaning “French Friends”) is a student organization for, “discuss[ing] and engag[ing] with French culture,” according to the Constitution.
In addition to studying French language and culture, the French Club also said it wanted to prepare members for the DELF exam.
The DELF exam allows French to formally be recognized as one’s second language.
