E-refund

This semester, students can now choose a paperless way to receive their financial aid refund check. The Office of Student Activities worked with PNC Bank to create  the eRefund system, which enables the university to directly deposit refunds into a student’s checking or savings account.“Overall, students have been very pleased with the change,” said Terra McBride, director of social media and digital public relations, in an email interview. “Our office had received requests from students to make the change to direct deposit during past semesters.”To make the refund process faster and more secure, Student Accounts decided to establish the eRefund system. With help from the university’s business office, Student Accounts researched the eRefund option and chose PNC Bank to control the system, according to McBride. With the eRefund system, students receive two emails, one from Student Accounts that introduces the system, and the other from the PNC Payment Portal. From this portal, students can decide to use direct deposit or to receive a paper check. To use direct deposit, students must give their bank’s routing number and account number.Once Student Accounts is ready to issue a refund, the payment is sent to the payment portal and the funds are either placed in the student’s bank account or the student is sent a check, according to McBride.Students can view the process of their refund online through the payment portal.
