In Sudan, members of the army were hired to protect the world’s last male Northern White Rhino. Only five of the species are remaining, the other four are all female and held in different wildlife preserves throughout Africa. To protect the male from poachers, Sudan found it fit to cut off the Rhino’s horn. A Northern White Rhino horn can be sold for up to $75,000 per kilogram. In the 1960s, there were 2,000 left of the species. In 1994, there were only 15.

According to recent reports, New Delhi has the worst quality of air in the world. The air is so bad it will take an average of three years from its citizens’ lifespans. New Delhi is in first place, followed by Doha, Qatar and Kabul, Afghanistan.

Melbourne model and DJ Sharky Jama, 25, was killed while fighting alongside ISIS militants in Syria. The parents of the young model were informed of their son’s death via text message on Monday by the Somali Australian Council of Victoria. Jama had disappeared with another Somali-Australian Yusuf Yusuf, according to Australia media reports.

The European Union accused the top search engine Google of regulating searches to promote Google’s own products. Europe’s top antitrust czar slapped the company with an official complaint Wednesday that brings accusations of violating fair competitions rules. The move by the European Union significantly amped up another investigation by the Silicon Valley against Google and the way they have conducted overseas business. It was also a shot across the European market of panic that companies needed to ensure commuters are given as vast an option as available.

ISIS released a propaganda video showing the destruction of artifacts in the ancient city of Nimrud, located in the middle of Iraqi strongholds, in March. Nimrud is close to ISIS headquarters in Mosul. On Sunday, April 12, ISIS uploaded another video of them destroying the more than 30,000-year-old archaeological city with power tools and sledgehammers before they blew up the city as a whole. Other ancient locations and historical places taken out by ISIS include the Mosul Musum in Iraq and the Khorsabad tower, built in 706 BC. The fire of the Mosul Library in Iraq destroyed thousands of books over the course of several weeks.

The former tight end for the New England Patriots Aaron Hernandez was found guilty on April 15. Hernandez was convicted and charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd back in 2013. The jury ruled he was guilty of first degree on account of extreme atrocity and cruelty. Hernandez will go to prison for life and was given no parole.

Congress voted Cuba off the international terror list after Obama met with Cuban President Raul Castro. Obama explained his actions were based off specific criteria that warranted Cuba’s removal from the list because it will likely expedite plans to re-establish embassies in both Washington and Havana. Obama said, “The government of Cuba has not provided any support for international terrorism during the preceding six-month period; and the government of Cuba has provided assurance that will not support acts of international terrorism in the future.”

The race is on for political touring. Immediately after she announced her campaign, Hillary Clinton is touring community colleges and holding round table conversations with teachers and students. On April 14, she stopped in Monticello, Iowa. Simultaneously Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey, began his “Tell It Like It Is” tour. Christie is hoping this tour will remind people of all he has done for his state.
