Easter Dorm Recipes

Between the coronavirus and no break around Easter time, many students who celebrate Easter are stuck at school this year. This time of year is normally savored for family dinners and activities such as Easter baskets and egg hunts, but don’t fret. There’s plenty that can be done in a dorm room to celebrate Easter like it’s any other year. 


Homemade Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Eggs – Reese’s peanut butter eggs are a staple in Easter baskets. They’re a delectable peanut butter mix coated in rich chocolate, all in the shape of an egg. Rather than buying them at the store, it’s easy to turn these delicious treats into a fun activity with just four ingredients. 


  • ¼ cup of butter
  • ½ cup of peanut butter 
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 12 oz. bag of chocolate chips/chocolate melts
  1. Mix together butter, powdered sugar, and peanut butter until well combined.  
  2. Shape peanut butter mixture into eggs and then place them in the freezer for 10 minutes.
  3. Melt chocolate in 10-second increments and dip peanut butter in chocolate. 
  4. Let chocolate set at room temperature or in the fridge, then enjoy. 


Cadbury Egg Dip – Cadbury Creme Eggs are another Easter favorite with their sweet creme center inside a thick chocolate coating. The main lure of Cadbury eggs is the creme. These treats can be used to make a creme dip for wafers, graham crackers, fruit and more. 


  • 8 oz. of cream cheese
  • ¼ cup of butter
  • One teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup of  powdered sugar
  • 10 Cadbury Creme Eggs
  1. Using a mixer, beat butter and cream cheese together in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Add vanilla extract and slowly mix in powdered sugar until incorporated. 
  3. Chop up Cadbury eggs into small pieces and fold them into the mix. 
  4. Chill until ready to serve and dip.


Microwaved Hard-Boiled Eggs – While many dorm rooms don’t have stovetops, that doesn’t stop one from making savory hard-boiled eggs at ease in the microwave. After making these eggs, they can be enjoyed right away or saved to dye vibrant colors. They can even be used for an Easter egg hunt; just be sure they’re all found, or else you’ll find yourself with a smelly surprise.


  • 2 eggs
  • ½  teaspoon of salt per egg
  • Water
  1. Place eggs in a microwave-safe bowl or mug. 
  2. Fill with hot water about ½ an inch above the eggs
  3. Microwave for 4 minutes.
  4. Let eggs sit in water for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to a bowl of cold water to stop cooking.


No-Bake Easter Nests – This one is not only tasty and requires no baking, but it also has a cute, decorative outcome. Made like Rice Krispies treats and featuring little candy eggs, it’s an Instagram-worthy treat. 


  • 4 cups of marshmallows 
  • 5 cups of rice cereal
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of mini egg candy
  1. Grease a muffin tray and set it aside.
  2. Place marshmallows in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 15-second increments until melted. 
  3. Add vanilla extract to melted marshmallows and mix together.
  4. Add rice cereal one cup at a time and fold in well.
  5. Scoop mixture into muffin tray and form little cup shapes.
  6. Chill for at least 2 hours. 
  7. Once set, pop out the nests and fill them with candy eggs or whatever is desired, whether it’s fruit or chocolate. 


While the world is stuck with another Easter during a pandemic, there are ways to brighten up the atmosphere by making these adorable and tasty treats. Maybe next year it’ll be back to normal Easter dinners but until then, staying safe, making snacks and talking with loved ones is a good alternative.
