Happy week 13, Pioneers! We are so close to the finish line. Do not be afraid to ask for help and remember to take care of yourself these next few weeks. You and your mental health are always the most important.
Seniors, amid all the chaos of these last few weeks, try to take some time for yourself. Go to that museum or bar you have always wanted to go to. Say yes to hanging out with your friends spontaneously. Try to enjoy these last moments in college and let yourself have fun. You deserve it!
And speaking of fun, this past week has been quite interesting in the ‘Burgh. The Point is basically still pointless. We should be calling ourselves Park University. All jokes aside, why were there no updates from the university? As a school with a large commuter population, why were classes still in person?
The city is experiencing the worst flooding since 2005. That is a huge deal. Several main roads were backed up for hours. There is still flooding at places like Point State Park and the Mon Wharf. No, there is nothing the university can really do, but staying silent does not help either. Acknowledging that students, staff and faculty might have had some difficulties and having classes online is the bare minimum.
In fact, we had flooding issues on campus as well. The West Penn basement was flooded a good four inches. Accidents are bound to happen, especially when being surrounded by three rivers, but this is a good time to remind students of maintenance procedures as well.
If you have any water damage, you can submit a maintenance work order at pointpark.corrigo.com/CP30/sign-in or call Physical Plant at 412-392-3490.
