Three of the top Point Park track and field athletes represented the program at the Penn State University Nittany Lion Challenge last weekend.

Anna Shields carried the No. 1 indoor mile time in collegiate track and field into last weekend. The junior posted the top collegiate time at the meet that was a fraction of a second off her then-best mile time of 4 minutes, 45 seconds.

Her mile time of 4 minutes, 45.04 seconds set at the Youngstown State Icebreaker in December, is still the top in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and fifth in the country.

Shields was the only runner to compete in the 1,000 meters in addition to the mile at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1 meet. She was one of three runners within 0.2 seconds at the finish line, placing third.

Xavier Stephens broke his own school record in the 1,000 meters at the meet with his time of 2 minutes, 33.25 seconds to finish 15th.

Jryi Davis returned to the triple jump event at Penn State for the first time since December, posting a 14.05 leap to finish seventh.

The full track and field teams compete Friday at the Youngstown State University Invitational.
