1971: Point Park students could borrow books from the University of Pittsburgh and Carlow’s libraries.
1972: Jon Ghiselin, an ecologist at Point Park, given opportunity to study vertebrate processes in the Sahara desert.
1973: Men’s basketball plays against York for the Homecoming game.
1977: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater visits the Playhouse along with Clive Thompson.
1979: Point Park’s then-refund policy challenged by the former director of admissions.
1980: Pioneer officially chosen as Point Park’s mascot.
1981: 89% of fall 1980 class stays at the university.
1982: Two journalism majors win awards at Women’s Press Club competition at Duquesne University.
1983: Cancellation of finals week considered.
1984: Masters in International Business Management degree planned while awaiting approval from the state.
1985: Dancers selected as finalists to perform at Gala Choreography Concert at Rutgers University.
1986: Almost 60% of undergraduate students were people 25 years old and older.
1987: SGA commuter Rep. Jes Sunder impeached after not attending a single meeting — not even his own impeachment hearing at that. The vote was unanimous.
1988: Lawrence Hall’s fire alarm system by Pyrotronics installed and put to use.
