Hostage situation resolved at Gateway Center

Pittsburgh police have confirmed that Klein Michael Thaxton surrendered after five hours of negotiating with him to let his hostage go from the Three Gateway Center building.The hostage was not harmed during the event, according to police.22-year-old Thaxton, a veteran from Altoona, PA., is now in questioning.Chief Harper said Thaxton was using social media while holding the man hostage. Police are still investigating why he targeted the company CW Breitsman Associates, LLC, a” Third Party Administrative Firm” that provides “administrative services to qualified group benefit plans and compensation related groups,” according to their website.

Around 8:15 this morning, police on the ground and in the air arrived to the scene and began blocking streets off and evacuating buildings near Gateway Center. Police said the streets should become open again around rush hour.
