Senior forward Taylor Rinn grabbed 16 rebounds against Indiana University East (8-11, 7-3) to clutch the Point Park rebounds record. With 969 career boards, Rinn edges out Angie Dawson (1985-89) who had 964 rebounds, and takes hold of the 34 year old school record. The Akron, OH native set the record in 78 games and is averaging 14.9 rebounds per game throughout 16 games played.

Junior guard Ari Bleda dropped an impressive double-double and scored 25 points — a career high — along with 11 rebounds and nine assists. Sophomore guard Emma Pavalek and Rinn netted 18 points apiece for the Pioneers.

Point Park (6-12, 3-7 RSC) trailed 25-15 after the first quarter and was never able to clutch a lead over the Red Wolves. A 9-4 run capped by a pair of free throws from Pavalek allowed the Pioneers to cut the deficit to five points (29-24) with 6:45 left before the break.

Addie Brown from Indiana University East drained a triple as time expired and PPU trailed 48-36 at the half.

The Pioneers defense was not able to tighten up and allowed the Red Hawks to score 22 points in the third quarter.

Pavalek opened up the final quarter with a triple and junior guard Coral Homs netted another three-pointer to trail 72-62 with 8:46 left to play.

Despite scoring 21 points in the fourth, the Pioneers could not muster up a comeback and lost 86-77. Point Park was outrebounded 47-40 by IU East and the Red Hawks had 25 bench points compared to the Pioneers 10. IU East took advantage of offensive rebounds to nail 23 second chance points while PPU only had 12.

The Pioneers take the court again January 26 against St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Terre Haute, Ind. Tip-off is set for 5p.m.
