1976: Representatives from the ALCU meet with USG.
1977: Former storage room on third floor of Lawrence Hall turned into lounge specifically for maintenance employees.
1979: Chain locks added to all dorms due to theft of master keys.
1980: Floors 18 through 20 in Lawrence Hall suffer water damage due to a broken pipe in the ceiling.
1981: Women’s soccer coach Mike Roberts resigns due to two athletes not getting scholarships he promised to them.
1982: Controversy arises over USG’s use of executive sessions.
1984: Middle States commission questions Point Park on its small endowment of just $1 million.
1985: Charmaine Pfender and Sara Mae Richardson receive life in prison for the murder of two Point Park students.
1986: Oct. 23 declared “Pioneer Day” by Pittsburgh officials because of Pioneer baseball team’s performance in NAIA world series.
1988: A maintenance employee not correctly resetting Lawrence Hall’s fire alarm system causes alarms to blare for hours.
1989: Students dissatisfied with “bogus” charges for phone calls they say were never connected in the first place.
1990: WPPJ celebrates its 10th annual Rock-a-Thon.
1991. Make-up artist Tom Savini visits Point Park.
1992: Changes in financial aid affect students.
1993: Point Park joins the then-new Keystone Empire Collegiate Conference in the NAIA.
1994: USG forum canceled because the president was absent.
1996: Point Park and Duquesne “70% sure” of a possible affiliation deal between the college and the university.
1997: Katherine Henderson inaugurated as Point Park’s sixth college president.
2000: President Henderson announces plans to turn Point Park into “The University of Point Park.”
2001: Two registrar’s office employees fired for suspected fraud.
