1974: The first attempt to bring women’s sports to Point Park.
1978: Volleyball team “off to best start ever” at the time.
1980: “Heat exchanges” installed in Lawrence Hall to bring hot water back to the building.
1981: Windows replaced throughout all of Lawrence Hall.

1982: Admissions office moves to first floor of Lawrence Hall, causing the building to be unlocked for the first time since 1975.
1983: Talk of the former YMCA on Wood Street temporarily becoming a minimum security prison swept campus and Downtown.
1984: Racquetball recognized as a club sport.
1986: Plans to renovate the Pittsburgh Playhouse, then in Oakland, included a new training schoolhouse and a restaurant.
1987: Athletics program decreases budget, loses basebal trainer.
1988: A wall in Academic Hall collapsed during renovation.
1989: University Center library goes digital with barcode system.
1990: Recycling bins placed around campus for the first time.
1991: Soccer team temporarily suspended due to lack of players.
1994: The Globe cuts page count to eight from 12 due to a publishing gaffe involving a “joke” inside a cartoon box.
1996: Affiliation with Duquesne University considered.
1997: The Globe goes online for the first time.
