The Mountain East Conference awarded freshman Andrea Kinger her second set of MEC Player of the Week honors on Monday for women’s lacrosse.
The Blackhawk High School graduate from Beaver County combined for nine goals and five assists in Point Park’s two games last week.
On Sunday’s game against Davis & Elkins, Kinger helped the Pioneers to overtime with a team-high five goals in regulation. The Pioneers fell 14-13.
Kinger leads the conference in goals per game with 3.83. She also leads the MEC in points per game with 5.50.
At Point Park, Kinger leads her team in total goals, assists, points, shots and shots on goal.
She first earned MEC Player of the Week honors on March 2 earlier this season.
Point Park is sixth in the conference with a 1-2 record in MEC play and a 3-6 record overall.
The Pioneers are led by coach Erik Ingram, who was hired in 2024 to kickstart a women’s lacrosse program at Point Park.
The team earned its first conference win in program history last Thursday versus West Virginia Wesleyan 21-4. Kinger contributed four goals and four assists.
Thursday’s game was Point Park’s second time scoring 21 goals in a game this season. The first time was on Feb. 21 versus Ursuline, which was the Point Park’s first game in program history.
In its first-ever season of competition, the women’s lacrosse team continues regular season play until April 22. The MEC hosts the Women’s Lacrosse Championship in May.
The Pioneers continue conference play this evening, taking on Charleston at Highmark Stadium at 7 p.m.
Charleston is 2-2 in conference play and sits fourth in the MEC.
