It is that time of year when everybody pulls their jerseys out of their closets, cleans their grill and gets their kickoff party invitations out.It’s the start of football season.Every team starts off with a clean slate for the 2010 season. The Steelers battle back to Super Bowl status once again in 2010. The Steelers main concern this offseason was obviously the quarterback situation which included not knowing exactly when “Big Ben” Roethlisberger would return under center. Now we know though that Big Ben will be suspended for only four games instead of the original six. Just knowing that as a Steelers fan brings a big sigh of relief.  The schedule for those four games include the Atlanta Falcons coming to Pittsburgh, taking a trip to take on the Tennessee Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, then home against the rival Baltimore Ravens.   Dennis Dixon has been named the starting quarterback for the opening weekend against the Atlanta Falcons beating out Byron Leftwich (who got injured), and Charlie Batch. I believe that Dixon deserved that starting job from Coach Mike Tomlin because he has proved this preseason that he knows how to take control of the offense and that he is more than just a running quarterback.Now, if Dixon can get us out of those first four games with a .500 record the Steelers will be in good shape because week five is the Steelers bye week.  That will give Big Ben a week to get reacquainted with the offense and prepare for the Cleveland Browns visiting Heinz Field week six. This season everyone expects Big Ben to come in after his suspension with a chip on his shoulder to prove to everyone that he did not let his offseason trouble get to his head. That is when it is time to take his first snap of the season, it is going to be all about football.Many people still cannot forgive him for his actions in the past, and I do not blame them.  I will admit that I wanted to see Big Ben out of Pittsburgh after I heard about the latest allegations.  Now, seeing what he has done with the community, and since he has met all of his requirements from the NFL so soon, it proved to me that he is ready to get back on the field and forget everything from the past. The rest of the team, I believe, improved this offseason.  The Steelers brought back some old faces such as wide receiver Antwaan Randle El, linebacker Larry Foote, and cornerback Bryant McFadden. Both Foote and McFadden were on the last Super Bowl team with the Steelers.  I thought these signings were important for bringing back that “Super Bowl or bust” attitude back to the black and gold.I am still a believer in the Steelers because not only does Big Ben have a chip on his shoulder, but so does the rest of the team.  After falling apart last season and missing the playoffs, the whole team has to prove that they are still a Super Bowl-caliber team.The Steelers are a group of players that have done this before.  They have won the Super bowl before without any big offseason signings. I predict these guys going at least 10-6, and making the playoffs. I am still a black and gold believer. Are you?
