The Mountain East Conference (MEC) revealed its preseason polls this month, predicting where teams will sit in the standings this fall.
The results are determined by the votes of the conference’s head coaches.
Point Park completed its first season of both NCAA Division II play and MEC play during the 2024-25 academic year.
“Having a year of MEC [play] under our belt is definitely an advantage from last year where we didn’t really know our competition that well,” sophomore volleyball player Patricia Calero-Irizarry said. “This year we’re using our losses from last year to make us stronger and more strategic.”
Volleyball: 5th
Point Park volleyball takes fifth place out of five teams in the MEC North division. The conference hosts 11 total teams.
The Pioneers rounded out the 2024 season with a 7-20 record overall and a 4-10 conference record.

The season was headlined by former freshman Cassondra O’Connor, who earned MEC Runner of the Year and MEC Freshman of the year honors. O’Connor placed second overall in the MEC Championship race.

Point Park is predicted ninth out of 11 men’s cross country teams.
The Pioneers took seventh place at the 2024 MEC Cross Country Championships.
